Descrição
Talybont Reservoir has two bird hides, car parking, and a nice cafe in the village. Shallow water, marshland and exposed mud at the top end attract dabbling ducks, waders especially Galinhola, Narceja-comum, Narceja-galega, Garça-real, Garça-branca-pequena and Frango-d'água in autumn and winter. The woods have Papa-moscas-preto, Águia-d'asa-redonda, Coruja-do-mato, Trepadeira-azul, Trepadeira-do-bosque and Noitibó da Europa. In the surrounding streams look for Alvéola-cinzenta, Melro-d'água and Cartaxo-comum. And on the moors may be Maçarico-real, Tarambola-dourada, Lagópode-cinzento, Corvo, Petinha-dos-prados and Chasco-cinzento . The nearby canal has Guarda-rios-comum.

Between Brecon and Abergavenny. Take the B4558 and turn south in Talybont village. A regular bus service runs through the village, from which it's a 2 mile walk to the reservoir. The circular route up to Tor y Foel is 5 km, with 250 metres of ascent. Stout boots, a hiking pole, snacks, a drink and waterproof clothing are recommended.
