Descrição
This stretch of the river Truro is an appealing site for a quick visit being close to central Truro. Parking is easy and free along the road or at adjacent Boscowan Park. View from Sunny Corner or the wooded walk to Malpas. Best known for a varied selection of waders including wintering flocks of up to 100 Maçarico-de-bico-direito and 400 Pilrito-comum. These are joined by the most westerly wintering Alfaiate with up to 4 along with regular Perna-verde-comum, Maçarico-galego, Maçarico-das-rochas and the occasional Perna-vermelha-escuro.
In passage periods these are joined by small numbers of Seixoeira, Fuselo and Borrelho-grande-de-coleira. Wintering wildfowl includes good numbers of Pato-branco, Piadeira and Marrequinha-comum. Scarce species in the last few years have included Garca-vaqueira, Colhereiro, Íbis-preta, Ganso-de-bico-curto, Milhafre-real and Águia-pesqueira.

The area is easy to access by walking, car, taxi or bicycle from Truro. There is an irregular bus service from Truro. Sunny Corner is accessible for wheelchairs. Above the Sunny Corner garden there are 2 viewpoints giving views up Calenick Creek where birds roost at high-tide.

The area is tidal and the best conditions are 2 hours either side of high tide when the birds are more concentrated from Sunny Corner. See the linke below for the tide table.
