Description
Bistraka is a small lake between the river Struma and the A3 motorway. Its a great place for Stârc pitic in the summer. Other birds you can observe include Egretă mică, Barză neagră, Barză albă, Rață cu cap castaniu, Privighetoare roșcată, Erete de stuf Pescăraș albastru, Prigorie, Lăstun de mal, Ciocănitoare de grădini and Lăcar mare. Seasonal migration brings flocks of swallows, wagtails, and warblers, while wintering ducks and geese use the area as resting grounds. The area has also seen rarities like Rață roșie and Vânturel de seară.

Access
Bistraka lake is located south of the town of Blagoevgrad. It has easy access next to a road. Press P on the map for directions. You can make a 2,5 km circular walk around the lake and also walk to the dams in the Struma river.
