Description

Zhitnitza village is surrounded by unspoilt countryside and a river tributary. The varied natural habitat, relief and climate and relatively unspoilt environment are among the main reasons for the many bird species (over 70) you are likely to encounter. From tits, sparrows and warblers to Privighetoare roșcată, Ciocârlie, Prigorie and Grangur.

Access

The village of Znitnitza is located approximately 30 km north of Plovdiv city (Bulgaria's second city). Zhitnitza is served by local bus transport from nearby Plovdiv and Hisarya (Hissar) and a train service runs to the municipal capital Kaloyanovo, which is approximately 4km from Zhitnitza. Should you wish to travel by car, parking is readily available.

A nice place to stay is Hambarlii Boutique Villas. The villas are nestled neatly between the village's suburbia and the surrounding countryside including adjacent river. The birds are in very close proximity and frequently fly within feet of the villas. It is worth mentioning that wheelchair access is plausible but only from the villas. The surrounding countryside infrastructure is challenging.
