Description
The Sundet area is easily accessible, and due to the varied biotopes, many different birds can be seen in a relatively limited area. 190 different birds have been recorded in the area (2024). The hiking trail 'Fynske ø-havstien' goes through the area and allows for an extended walk, in the nature around the lake.
In the lake breeds, among others, Corcodel mare , Rață pestriță , Rață cu cap castaniu and Rață moțată, and in winter large groups of Rață moțată and Rață lingurar can be seen. In the reedbed, the Găinușă de baltă and Cârstel de baltă breed, all year around there is Pițigoi de stuf and in spring, Lăcar de stuf , Lăcar de mlaștină and Presură de stuf also arrive. The area also hosts Stârc cenușiu and Egretă mare . Birds of prey can be seen flying over the area, most frequently Vânturel roșu , Șorecar comun and Codalb .

Access
Lake Sundet is located immediately to the east of the town of Faaborg. There are several parking options in the area. The chosen parking is at Sundbrinkens børnehus, where there is an electric car charging station. The site is suitable for both walking and cycling. The largest part is a gravel path, but also an area with a paved cycle path, which is separated from car traffic. The circular route around the lake is about 3 km.
The extended route of 4,65 km, is only for walking, and is known as the most beautiful exercise track in Denmark. Follow the signs, see the picture below. See GPX file.
