Melaten is the largest cemetery of Cologne. It is a park-like cemetery with many old trees. This green and tranquil environment in the middle of the city attracts many birds. Uliu porumbar, Ciuf de pădure, Huhurez mic, Ciocănitoare pestriță mare, Ghionoaie verde and Țiclean all breed here. Other birds you are likely to spot include Papagal Micul Alexandru, Cojoaică cu degete scurte, Porumbel gulerat, Gaiță, Sturz cântător, Pițigoi codat and Silvie cu cap negru.

Melaten Friedhof is located 3 km west of the city center of Cologne. The opening hours of Melaten Friedhof are 0800 - 17.00. The cemetery is easy accessible from all sides. You can walk from the city or go there by tram. Tram lines 1 and 7, stop right in front of the cemetery, get off at Melaten tram stop (1). If you arrive by car you can park in the streets around the cemetery.
