Description

Rambower Moor is a large Durchströmungsmoor (through‑flowing peatland) of about 450 hectares. It is protected since 1990 and forming part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Flusslandschaft Elbe‑Brandenburg. At its center lies the shallow Rambower See, surrounded by reedbeds. The nature reserve is known for its rich biodiversity. The Rambower Moor offers a breeding, resting and wintering site for many birds. Birds you can observe include Buhai de baltă, Pițigoi de stuf, Becațină comună, Erete de stuf, Grelușel de zăvoi, Grelușel pătat, Cârstel de baltă, Presură de stuf and Codalb. The mostly shallow water in spring and late autumn is often used as a roosting place by about 4000 to 7000 Cocor that rest here during migration. A twelve-kilometer circular route runs around the area.
