Description
Balcary Bay to Rascarrel has a diverse range of habitats. Sea cliff birds include Fulmar, Alcă nordică, Alcă cu oglindă, Alcă atlantică, Pescăruș cu trei degete, Mărăcinar negru, Vânturel roșu, Fâsă de stâncă and Stăncuță de munte. At sea, look for Rață neagră , Corb de mare, Eider and divers. In Rascarrel forest Cojoaică de pădure, Aușel cu cap galben, Forfecuță and woodpeckers. Lebădă de iarnă and winter wildfowl on Loch Mackie.

Access
From Dumfries take A711 SW for 15 miles. Car parking at Balcary or Rascarrel. Click on the P in the map for directions. From Dalbeattie, bus 505 runs 7 times a day to Auchencairn.
The circular walk is 4 and 1/2 miles. NB the clifftop section is narrow and steep. Avoid if you have balance problems, children or dogs, also on windy days .
