Description
Cardiff Bay is good for birds all year round. Residents include Pietruș, Codroș de munte, Fâsă de stâncă and Ferestraș mare. The first can be seen on the green walkways in groups, whilst the rest can be seen basking on the rocky edges.
Lăstun de mal, Lăstun de casă and Drepnea neagră can all be seen in summer. Lăstun de casă nest in ready-made boxes under the eaves of houses by the roundabout barrage entrance. Lăstun de mal nest in the walls of the bay.
Scoicar can be seen on the barrage all year round, as well as Fluierar cu picioare roșii. Florinte is another resident around the bay. When the tide goes out, many species, such as Călifar alb can be seen feeding.
Winter visitors include Pescăruș mic. However, check sightings before going as they tend to move around a lot. Finally, rarities include Corcodel cu gât negru, Rață de ghețuri and Rață cucuiată.

Easy accessible from Cardiff. Plenty of parking areas available. Click on a P in the map for directions. Walking is possible from Penarth to Barrage. Walking is the best way to explore the area.
