Description
Chartershaugh Pond is essentially a flooded field that fills during wetter seasons and shrinks in dry weather, but when flooded it becomes a very attractive spot for birdlife. Bird that can be observed here include Gâscă de vară, Gârliță mare, Gâscă cu cioc scurt, Gâscă canadiană, Lebădă mică, Lebădă de iarnă, Rață cârâitoare, Rață fluierătoare, Nagâț, Rață mică, Călifar alb, Rață lingurar, Rață sulițar, Rață cu cap castaniu, Ferestraș mare, Corcodel mic, Porumbel de scorbură, Lișiță, Găinușă de baltă, and Egretă mare.

Chartershaugh Pond is located 7 miles west of Sunderland, close to Chartershaugh Bridge. Take the road opposite Fatfield CIU club car park, follow road till you go under Washington highway and the pond is on your left. Press P on the map for directions.
