Description
Derwent Reservoir is always good for wildfowl, especially for wintering ducks, geese and swans. Uligan pescar nest locally in spring/summer. One of the owl boxes near the hide is often occupied by Strigă in breeding season. Waders (Prundăraș gulerat mic, Prundăraș gulerat mare, Nagâț, Fluierar cu picioare roșii, Scoicar, Culic mare, Fluierar de munte) and woodland bird species (Ciocănitoare pestriță mare, Țiclean, Tit and Finch flocks) are also regular.

Access
Lay-by parking on minor road north from B6306 (Blanchland to Edmunbyers) close to the hide; also off B6306 near Edmundbyers. Can be reached by cycle from Consett or Corbridge but be aware of steep hills. No nearby public transport. See below link for more details.
