Description
Messingham Sand Quarries has a tick list of 180 bird species. Two hides available. Reedbeds provide nest sites for Lăcar de stuf, Lăcar mic, Stufărică and Presură de stuf. Buhai de baltă is a regular visitor. Winter wildfowl such as Rață fluierătoare, Rață lingurar, Rață cu cap castaniu, Rață mică and Rață pestriță. In 2001 Stârc verzui showed up here.

Access
Just south of Scunthorpe and the M180 motorway. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Exit the reserve with care as its a fast straight road. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 3 km long.
