Description
NWT Ranworth Broad is accessible to all and boasts a great visitor centre (which is open in the spring and summer) with wide views over Ranworth Broad. The broad (lake) itself offers chances to see Corcodel mare, Pescăraș albastru and Erete de stuf throughout the year, while the boardwalk trail supports Pițigoi sur, Mugurar and Cârstel de baltă may also be heard.
In winter, the broad will be busy with feeding wildfowl including Rață fluierătoare, Rață mică, Rață lingurar, Rață sulițar and a few Rață moțată. In periods of harsh weather, Buhai de baltă, Rață cu cap negru and other scarcer species may be seen. The alder trees on the trail from the car park may hold good numbers of Scatiu and Inăriță mică.
In summer, there is a chance of seeing a flyover Uligan pescar, but more likely, there will be plenty of Chiră de baltă feeding over the broad. Large gatherings of Rândunică, Lăstun de casă and Lăstun de mal may also be seen. Listen out for the songs of Pitulice mică, Lăcar mic, Lăcar de stuf and even a Cuc along the boardwalk trail.
