Description
Oxwich has a mosaic of different habitats including dune slacks and limestone cliffs. The relatively small area of the reserve encompasses a variety of different habitats which include a calcium-rich dune system with dune slacks and saltmarsh, freshwater lakes and marshes and adjacent wooded areas on limestone slopes. This variety supports a rich variety of wildlife. Orchids on the grassland, beachcomber beetles, dragonflies, butterflies and moths. Otters. Seals and dolphins offshore. There is a cafe, car park, boardwalk and a bird hide. It can be crowded on the beach in summer. Winter wildfowl and possible Buhai de baltă, Egretă mică, Cârstel de baltă and Becațină mică. waders include Scoicar and Prundăraș gulerat mare. Other birds you can encounter are Mărăcinar negru, Corcodel mic, Lăcar de stuf, Stufărică, Corb, Șorecar comun, Vânturel roșu, Becațină comună and Sitar de pădure.

Take A4118 from Swansea. After ten miles, turn left at Nicholaston church. Fee for car parking. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Boat trips run from Oxwich to Worm's Head further west.
