Description
Pembrey Country Park and Beach is set against the backdrop of the Gower Peninsula and overlooking the coastal scenery of Carmarthen Bay. The area has a long wide sandy beach with forest to the west, dunes and tidal mudflats to the east, and a centre for cycling, riding, golf, dry ski, industrial archaeology and camping/caravan.
This is a significant wintering area for raptors and waders, with divers, scoters, skuas and grebes offshore. Up to 38.000 Rață neagră , 2.000 Scoicar, 500 Fugaci mare, lesser numbers of Rață cu cap negru, Gâscă neagră, Pietruș and Pescăruș cu cap negru. Chiră de mare numerous in autumn. Occasional Becațină mică, Aușel sprâncenat, Buhai de baltă, Șoim de iarnă and Erete vânăt.
In summer, Silvie de câmp and Silvie mică, Aușel cu cap galben, Pitulice sfârâitoare and Forfecuță all breed. Facilities include cafe and two bird hides on the lake.

Access
Turn south from the A484 Carmarthen to Llanelli road, one mile west of the town of Burry Port. Click on a P in the map to get directions to the parking of your choice. A national cycling route passes through, access from Kidwelly or Burry Port docks.
