Description
There is usually a warden on hand in summer with the site being of major conservation interest with its breeding Notatiță pictured. The surrounding moorland has breeding waders in spring / summer including Fugaci de țărm, Fluierar cu picioare roșii, Nagâț, Becațină comună and Ploier auriu. Birds of prey are also evident including Șoim de iarnă which has its UK stronghold on Lewis. There are regular guided walks throughout June organised by the RSPB to look for Eagles, Cristel de câmp, and other species.

Access
Loch na Muilne is located in North West Lewis approximately 15 miles from Stornoway and a 25-minute drive away. From Stornoway follow the A857 to Barvas and then turn left onto the A858 to Arnol. Turn into the village and continue towards the coast, past the Arnol Blackhouse Museum and park at the RSPB car park at the end of the road with due consideration for residents and other visitors.
The nature reserve is accessed to the North from the carpark, through a gate and a 400m walk which is waymarked by posts, taking you to a viewing area overlooking the loch.
