Description
The Whitacre Heath reserve contains open water, marsh, willow carr and mature woodland. There are four bird hides. Plants include blue fleabane and southern marsh orchid. There are emperor and chaser dragonflies in summer, and letter hairstreak butterflies.
The Tame valley series of wetlands is an important migration route. 130 bird species have been seen. Birds include Corcodel mic, Lăcar mic, Lăcar de stuf, Silvie de câmp, Silvie cu cap negru, Pescăraș albastru, Scoicar, Chiră de baltă, Becațină comună, Sitar de pădure and Fâsă de pădure.

From M42 junction 9, follow A4097 Kingsbury road, first right and right again, through Lea Marston, and reserve entrance is half mile ahead on the right. Nearest train station is at Water Orton, 3 miles away. The route indicated on the map is about 2 km long.
