Description
Jerup Strand comprises a flat sandy beach with a single line of dunes, marshland and grazed meadows. It is situated on the shore of the Kattegat north of Frederikshavn. Several species of wader breed in the area, including Кулик-сорока, Галстучник, Травник and now and again Шилоклювка.
Jerup is a stopover site for several duck species, including Свиязь and Чирок-свистунок. During migrating season other birds arrive, including Длинноносый крохаль, Пеганка, Золотистая ржанка, Тулес, Чернозобик, Чибис, Исландский песочник, Большой кроншнеп and Кулик-воробей. Now and again, flocks of Чёрная казарка and Белощекая казарка and a few Короткоклювый гуменник stage on the meadows. Серый гусь can be seen throughout the year.
In winter there are flocks of Песчанка running along the sea’s edge, and one can be lucky enough to spot a Болотная сова over the meadows. Зимняк and Полевой лунь can also be seen flying over the meadows, together with flocks of Горная чечётка and Пуночка. Small flocks of Рюм and a few Лапландский подорожник appear now and then. Сапсан is a regular visitor.

Access
Follow route 40 connecting Frederikshavn with Skagen. About 13km north of Frederikshavn one reaches the village of Jerup. Just north of the village, turn east along Fredborgvej (there is a sign to Jerup Strand). At the beach is a car park, from where one can get onto the beach. Most birds can usually be seen at the southern end of the area. Note: the area is privately owned but it is possible to park and walk along the beach. Click on the P in the map to get directions.
