Description
Bughdasheni Lake is a relatively small lake south of the village of Gorelovka at the mouth of the Zagranichnaia River. Like the other lakes in the Javakheti region, the lake is located on a plateau. The lake is situated at an elevation of approximately 2,000 meters, resulting in a vast and sparsely vegetated landscape. Extensive agriculture is practiced around the lake.
In spring several water birds can be expected such as: Армянская чайка, Розовый пеликан, Кудрявый пеликан, Каравайка, Серый журавль, Серощекая поганка, Черношейная поганка and Рыжая цапля. There is also an island where Кваква and a breeding colony of Большой баклан are present. In addition, several Галка (soemmerringii) are present on dung heaps near the village of Gorelovka. The Белый аист is well represented in the area around the lake as a breeding bird. In spring there is a chance of seeing Black-headed wagtail, Желтоголовая трясогузка and Краснозобый конёк directly around the lake. The plains surrounding the lake are full of Просянка en Полевой жаворонок.
