Description

Sani Wetland is a coastal lagoon and wetland complex of approximately 110 hectares that is a habitat for a wide variety of bird species. The wetland is a protected area and strategically located on a major migratory flyway, making it a crucial stopover for birds traveling between Europe and Africa. The best times to visit are during the spring and autumn migration periods, from March to May and September to November, when bird diversity and numbers peak.

Birdwatching at Sani Wetland is rewarding with more than 200 bird species recorded. Birds you can observe include Розовый фламинго, Ходулочник, Чирок-трескунок, Малая белая цапля, Жёлтая цапля, Рыжая цапля, Обыкновенный зимородок, Дроздовидная камышевка, Белоглазый нырок, Малый зуёк, Морской зуёк, Фифи, Большой улит, Малый баклан, Южный соловей, Обыкновенный жулан, Болотный лунь and many other marsh birds.

Access

Sani Wetland in Greece is located on the Kassandra Peninsula in the Halkidiki region, Northern Greece, north of the Sani Resort. The wetland is accessible by walking trails and observation points. You can park at the beginning of the walking trail next to the Sani Resort. Press P on the map for directions to the parking spot.
