Description
The Longarini lagoon is a wetland area of about 200 hectares located in the territory of Ispica, a few hundred meters from the coast. It is the largest of a complex of marshes that extend between Ispica and Pachino. The lagoon attracts a wide array of species throughout the year. In winter one can see Розовый фламинго, several species of ducks, Лысуха, Чибис, different species of herons, Болотный лунь, Обыкновенный зимородок, Обыкновенный ремез and more. During migration, the area attracts several typical wetland species, including waders such as Большой улит and Ходулочник, as well as migratory ducks like Чирок-трескунок and Белоглазый нырок. The site is one of the last places where Мраморный чирок breeds in Italy. Re-introduced Султанка can also be seen.

The lagoon is located 5 km west of the village of Pachino. The site is easily accessible by any means of transport.
