Description

Prince Philip Park in Kota Kinabalu is a seaside park at Tanjung Aru Beach. The park has wide lawns, a pond and casuarina trees, and the beach is a popular spot for sunset views, watching the South China Sea turn gold at dusk. But many birders visit the area to see the star bird of the park: the Blue-naped Parrot. This is an exotic species originally from the Philippines. But a small population has become established in Prince Phillip Park.

Other birds you can find in the park and on the beach include Long-tailed Parakeet, White-breasted Woodswallow, Pink-necked Green-Pigeon, Green Imperial-Pigeon, White-breasted Waterhen, Dusky Munia, Chestnut Munia, Whimbrel, Pied Triller, Brown-throated Sunbird, Blue-throated Bee-eater and Dollarbird.
