Arcos de la Frontera sits dramatically on a sandstone ridge overlooking the Guadalete River valley. The town has a medieval fortress and many interesting religious buildings from c. 11th-15th centuries on top of the hill and these are obviously a hotspot for tourists who enjoy the narrow winding streets, carved stonework, and excellent views over the surrounding countryside.
Looking up, expect to see Степная пустельга, and try to distinguish between Белопоясничный стриж and Чёрный стриж which both have colonies here. At the viewpoints, look down onto the impressive limestone cliff-face for Галка or possibly a Домовый сыч and look out for Белоголовый сип, Орёл-карлик or Белый аист flying nearby.
Below the town is the Guadalete River and a small reservoir both of which have tracks or roads from which they can be viewed. These are home to waterfowl and riparian species as well as many warblers. Чёрный скворец is common, Малая белая цапля Серая цапля are likely. Рыжая цапля and Султанка both apparently breed in the vicinity and in the summer it can be a good place to see Южный соловей.

La ciudad cuenta con una fortaleza medieval y numerosos edificios religiosos interesantes de los siglos XI al XV en la cima de la colina, y estos son, obviamente, un punto de interés para los turistas que disfrutan de las estrechas y sinuosas calles, la piedra tallada y las excelentes vistas del campo circundante.
Mirando hacia arriba prepárese para ver Степная пустельга y trate de diferenciar entre Белопоясничный стриж y Чёрный стриж, ambos con colonias aquí. Desde los miradores, contemple los impresionantes acantilados calizos en busca de Галка o tal vez Домовый сыч y busque Белоголовый сип, Орёл-карлик o Белый аист volando cerca.
Por debajo del pueblo pasa el río Guadalete y hay un pequeño embalse, ambos con pistas o caminos desde los que se pueden observar. En ellos encontramos aves acuáticas y especies ribereñas, así como numerosas currucas. A menudo se observa Чёрный скворец, Малая белая цапля y Серая цапля. Al parecer, la Рыжая цапля y el Султанка crían por la zona y en verano es un buen sitio para encontrar Южный соловей.

Arcos de la Frontera is located in the province of Cádiz in Andalusia, about 35 km east of Jerez de la Frontera. Parking is available near to the viewpoint at the top of the hill, however it can be very busy with both tourists and residents. The streets are rather narrow and it can be difficult to manouvre a large car. Other parking is available a little down the hill.
