Description
Secà de Bellmunt is a good place to look for steppe birds. The landscape is dominated by dry cereal crops, fallows and small scrublands with some holly oaks. The most iconic steppe species are Стрепет, Хохлатая кукушка, Луговой лунь, Сизоворонка, and Степной жаворонок. Other interesting resident species are Короткоклювый хохлатый жаворонок, Средиземноморский сорокопут, Иберийский дятел , Домовый сыч and Авдотка.
During the breeding season some noteworthy species are Стервятник, Чеглок, Степная пустельга, Светлобрюхая пеночка, and Рыжегрудая славка. In winter, Полевой лунь and Дербник can be present in the area.
The Urgell channel is a very good place to look for passerine migrants, and in the breeding season several species like Галка, Золотистая щурка, Береговушка or Каменный воробей breed in the walls.

Access
Secà de Bellmunt is located 40 km northeast of Lleida. Press P on the map for directions. The site can be visited by walking or by car. Walking is the best way to look for some species detected by sound. Visiting the site by car allows to explore a greater area. The route shown on the map is about 10 km one way.
The place can get very hot in summer, so it is best to go birding in the early morning. In winter it can be foggy.
