Description
Garway Hill Common covers 85 hectares and is largely covered by bracken with a wide variety of bird habitat including patches of gorse, short turf, areas of trees and grassland, and wetter areas around flowing springs. The area attracts several passerine species which are becoming scarce in lowland areas - Обыкновенная овсянка, Черноголовый чекан, Коноплянка, Обыкновенная горихвостка, Горихвостка-чернушка and Полевой жаворонок. Каменка and Белозобый дрозд on spring migration. Ворон, Перепелятник and Сапсан overhead.

Access
From A465 Abergavenny to Hereford road, turn south at Pontrilas onto B4347. Parking at Kentchurch church, then two and a half mile walk on Herefordshire trail. 300 metres of ascent. Usually windy on top.
Circular route returns via High House farm and Bannut tree farm, can be muddy.
On south side there is easier access but car parking for max 5 vehicles. From Garway village head west, take first right turn then left after 2km. Road is uneven single track, unsuitable for large vehicles or caravans. Parking is on right after cattle grid.
