Description
Loch Gruinart is one of the best places in Scotland to see Клушица (northernmost nesting site), Коростель (a few) and wintering geese (up to 50,000, mostly Чёрная казарка, Белощекая казарка, Серый гусь and Короткоклювый гуменник, plus Лебедь-кликун). The RSPB reserve has a hide, a visitor centre and Natural history centre. Birds here include Орлан-белохвост, Беркут, Дербник, Полевой лунь, Водяной пастушок, Погоныш, 16 regular wader species, 3 tern species, 3 diver species, Болотная сова, Горная чечётка and Скальный конёк.
At the sea end of the loch, Ardnare Point is a good seawatch location for viewing Северная олуша, divers, shearwaters, skuas, auks and sea ducks such as Морянка, Синьга and Длинноносый крохаль. Best place also for Клушица. Ardnare loch is favoured by wintering dabbling ducks - Чирок-свистунок, Свиязь, Серая утка and Широконоска.
