Description
Blean Woods is a patchwork of traditional coppice woodland, high forest, glades and heathland. The mix of habitats attracts lots of different bird species. In the dense thickets birds like Южный соловей nest. Some areas of the woodland are made up almost entirely of large oaks and beech trees. Here you can observe Большой пёстрый дятел and Малый пёстрый дятел. As night falls on summer evenings you can see the territorial display flight of the Вальдшнеп. The breeding birds of the Blean Woods include other typical deciduous woodland species as Перепелятник and Серая неясыть. The Обыкновенный козодой breeds in more open, recently felled areas. Чеглок is often seen on passage.
