This site can be very productive in good seasons with often 100's of waterfowl including Magpie Goose, Brolga, and Plumed Whistling-Duck.

Description

Munkayarra Wetland can be very productive for freshwater waterfowl such as Magpie Goose, Brolga, Plumed Whistling-Duck, Wandering Whistling-Duck, herons, ibis and spoonbills. A variety of raptors are present and in the near-by scrub woodland Grey-crowned Babbler, White-throated Gerygone and various honeyeaters occur.

Access

From Derby proceed southish along the Derby Highway for about 18 Kms to reach a 4WD track running westwards (approximately 500m before reaching Mowanjum Yards on the LHS).

Proceed along this track (opening/closing the gate) for 2 km to reach the wetland on the left. Press P on the map to access Google mapping. Note that this track may be impassable in the wet season and the wetland may dry over the dry season.
