Description

The Embalse del Neusa is a reservoir and natural area of 250 hectares situated at 3,000 meters above sea level. The surrounding area is a popular recreation spot due to its mountain views, forested landscape and campsites. The area hosts many Andean and highland bird species, including hummingbirds, flycatchers, and raptors.

Access

Embalse del Neusa is about 70 km (around 1.5 to 2 hours by car) north of Bogotá. Take the Central Highway North (Autopista Norte) from Bogotá. Press P on the map for directions. The Neusa Reservoir comprises three tourist zones: the center, Laureles, and Chapinero. These zones are further divided into camping and cabin areas. There are also some eco-lodges. Walking around the reservoir is a long 23 km and not always possible. Best to do only parts or rent a bike.
