Description
The Nature reserve Nový rybník is an important breeding site for many reedbed birds such as slávik modrák, chriašteľ vodný, trsteniarik veľký, trsteniarik malý, trsteniarik bahenný, kaňa močiarna, sliepočka vodná or strnádka trstinová. On the pond itself breed many pairs of čajka smejivá (the only occupied place in Plzensky region), hus divá, lyska čierna, kačica divá and a few pairs of kačica chripľavka, chochlačka sivá and chochlačka vrkočatá. In the rural areas and meadows breed strakoš obyčajný, svrčiak zelenkavý, trsteniarik obyčajný, penica obyčajná, slávik obyčajný, škovránok poľný and many others.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as pŕhľaviar červenkastý, pŕhľaviar čiernohlavý, kačica chrapačka, čorík čierny and many other species of waterfowl. In last years žeriav popolavý is a regular guest here, especially in spring time. In late summer and autumn there is little water, which is suitable for močiarnica mekotavá, cibík chochlatý, kalužiak močiarny and other waders. In winter strakoš veľký is a regular visitor.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch škorec obyčajný murmuration (thousands of birds). You can also see lastovička obyčajná and trasochvost žltý.

Access
Easily accesible by car. There is a small parking lot in the south of the pond. You can also arrive by public transport using a bus to the city of Líně and then 20 minutes walking using the unpaved road.
