Description

The Dasilameh Wetlands are an area of rice fields and wetlands with a lot of reed beds and shrubs. We've seen the Black Crowned Crane here everytime we visited. In the dry season a lot of harriers visit this place. Other birds you can observe include herons, bee-eaters, pelicans, storks, rollers, kingfishers, Senegal Thick-knee, African Spoonbill and Sacred Ibis.

Access

The Dasilameh Wetlands are located north of the Gambia River, east of the town of Farafenni, near the village of Dasilameh. You can park on the North Bank Road and watch from there or you can drive into the wetlands for about 80 meters and leave the car there. As there are rice fields with possibly women working, they do not mind the birders, but a small tip would be appreciated by them.
