Description
Vachiani Lake is one of dozens of lakes on the Javakheti Plateau, but is significant for birdwatching because many species can be seen here at short range. pelikán ružový and pelikán kučeravý forage here regularly in small numbers. Above the water čorík bielokrídly and čorík bahenný forage together.
During spring many migrant waders like bojovník bahenný, pobrežník malý and kalužiak močiarny, pipits and wagtails (ľabtuška červenohrdlá, trasochvost žltohlavý , Black-headed wagtail and Grey-headed Wagtail (thunbergi)) can be seen on the West side of the lake (1 on the map). If you're lucky you can see kalužiak štíhly or lyskonoh úzkozobý here. potápka červenokrká breed close to shore (2 on the map).

Access
Vachiani Lake is located at the edge of the village of Vachiani. When driving from Akhalkalaki towards Sulda/Turkish border turn left (East) into the town of Vachiani at the moment the speed limit is stated as 30 km. Drive on this road for about 500m and turn right after you passed a school. You can park there and walk the short distance towards the South to Vachiani lake.
