Tawi Lodge

Kilitome Conservancy, next to Amboseli NP  >  Kenya

Tawi Lodge is a little birding gem because of the amount of birds you should be able to see here. It is also very rich in wildlife, particulary elephants.

Description

Tawi Lodge is located in Kilitome Conservancy close to Kenya’s south-eastern border with Tanzania. This is a place of ever changing landscapes, from acacia woodland, giant palm forest, dusty dry lake beds, volcanic plains, to lush, cool, green swamps fed by the snowmelt of Kilimanjaro.

In the lodge's grounds you will be able to see the beautiful Malachite Sunbird, Marico Sunbird and Scarlet-chested Sunbird. And in the surrounding acacia woodland, bush and swamps you might find Bateleur, White-backed Vulture, Mourning Dove, Fork-tailed Drongo, Black-headed Heron, Common Ostrich, Lilac-breasted Roller (Blue-breasted) , Wattled Starling, African Pied Wagtail, White-headed Buffalo-Weaver and Spotted Palm Thrush.

And a very special addition is that you will have the chance to see some of Kenyas's largest elephants up close, when they come to drink at the watering hole in front of the lodge.
