Description
(*1). (press STARS on map) Upper estuary area, locally called 'Cuckoo Corner'. In Winter rybárik riečny chriašteľ vodný, cibík chochlatý and kulík zlatý can be expected. Surrounding fields can have strnádka lúčna, whilst both lastovička obyčajná and belorítka obyčajná are present often being chased by sokol lastovičiar late in the season.
(*2). Adur Estuary, surrounded on all sides by footpaths, use Adur Recreation Ground Car Park (free). During Autumn/Winter/Spring lastúrničiar strakatý, kalužiak červenonohý, kulík piesočný, kamenár strakatý, pobrežník čiernozobý, the occasional šabliarka modronohá, kulík bledý, kalužiak sivý, brehár hrdzavý, brehár čiernochvostý, hvizdák malý (Spring) and hvizdák veľký.
(*3). RSPB Adur Estuary, is a NO access reserve, view from surrounding roads and footpaths. High Spring Tides move birds off this reserve. Check through Gull flocks carefully, čajka čiernohlavá are often to be found amongst čajka smejivá here, both čajka žltonohá and čajka bielohlavá have been seen.
(*4). Shoreham Fort, use the car park (free) and explore the river mouth and out to sea. pobrežník morský are often mixed in with the kamenár strakatý. Their favourite spot is on the wooden pier. sula biela can be seen, sometimes at long distance though.
(*5). Southwick Ship Canal. Birds often shelter here during stormy weather. View from lock gates at Western End or A259 road on Northern side, BE AWARE the beach near the car park (free) is A DESIGNATED NATURISTS BEACH.
(*6). The Beaches, West of Shoreham Fort is good for birds, unfortunately often disturbed by dog walkers.
(*7). Widewater Lagoon. The car park (fee payable) here is right next to the brackish lagoon. bernikľa tmavá, kačica chrapka and occasionally potápač veľký can be found in Winter. The margins of the Lagoon can have lastúrničiar strakatý, kulík piesočný and kalužiak červenonohý, occasionally pobrežník hrdzavý, pobrežník malý and kulík riečný turn up here.
