Description
Once known as one of the deepest open cast coal mines in the country reaching a depth of 250 feet, Anglers Country Park has since flourished into a beautiful haven for wildlife including many migratory birds. The Park is designated a Site of Scientific Interest and has a variety of woodland, a central lake surrounded by grassland, and a wetland area known as the ‘Pol’ (1). The west side of the lake also has 'The Shallows' (2). This variety of habitats is perfect for bird watching, including several bird hides strategically placed around the park for spotting migratory birds and wintering wildfowl. Birds you can observe include hus divá, hus krátkozobá, labuť veľká, kačica chripľavka, kačica hvizdárka, kačica lyžičiarka, hlaholka severská, potápka chochlatá, močiarnica mekotavá, kalužiačik malý, rybár riečny, cetia západná, trsteniarik malý and strnádka trstinová.
