Description
Resident and passage waders, especially at Haven and at Longhoughton Steel, 1.5 km north. Large kulík zlatý flocks in winter, with records of kulík hnedokrídly and kulík krátkochvostý. Passage hvizdák malý and pobrežník krivozobý. Winter pobrežník morský. The tidal foreshore is unusual in that there are sheltered areas of shallow water protected from waves by reefs at almost all states of the tide, making it an important feeding location for the rybár malýs that breed at the nearby Long Nanny (q.v.) and other terns.
potáplica malá and potáplica veľká, and occasionally potáplica stredná, can be seen offshore in winter, and potáplica bielozobá has been recorded.
Vagrant passerines on foreshore and at Seaton Point, 1.5 km south in 2020-22 included slávik modrák, sedmihlások hájový and skaliarik púšťový. snehuľka severská regular in winter. strakoš obyčajný and strakoš veľký have both occurred on passage.
