Description
Derwent Reservoir is always good for wildfowl, especially for wintering ducks, geese and swans. kršiak rybár nest locally in spring/summer. One of the owl boxes near the hide is often occupied by plamienka driemavá in breeding season. Waders (kulík riečný, kulík piesočný, cibík chochlatý, kalužiak červenonohý, lastúrničiar strakatý, hvizdák veľký, kalužiačik malý) and woodland bird species (ďateľ veľký, brhlík obyčajný, Tit and Finch flocks) are also regular.

Access
Lay-by parking on minor road north from B6306 (Blanchland to Edmunbyers) close to the hide; also off B6306 near Edmundbyers. Can be reached by cycle from Consett or Corbridge but be aware of steep hills. No nearby public transport. See below link for more details.
