Description
Loch Gruinart is one of the best places in Scotland to see čavka červenozobá (northernmost nesting site), chrapkáč poľný (a few) and wintering geese (up to 50,000, mostly bernikľa tmavá, bernikľa bielolíca, hus divá and hus krátkozobá, plus labuť spevavá). The RSPB reserve has a hide, a visitor centre and Natural history centre. Birds here include orliak morský, orol skalný, sokol kobec, kaňa sivá, chriašteľ vodný, chriašť bodkovaný, 16 regular wader species, 3 tern species, 3 diver species, myšiarka močiarna, stehlík horský and ľabtuška skalná.
At the sea end of the loch, Ardnare Point is a good seawatch location for viewing sula biela, divers, shearwaters, skuas, auks and sea ducks such as ľadovka dĺhochvostá, turpan čierny and potápač prostredný. Best place also for čavka červenozobá. Ardnare loch is favoured by wintering dabbling ducks - kačica chrapka, kačica hvizdárka, kačica chripľavka and kačica lyžičiarka.
