Description
NWT Ranworth Broad is accessible to all and boasts a great visitor centre (which is open in the spring and summer) with wide views over Ranworth Broad. The broad (lake) itself offers chances to see potápka chochlatá, rybárik riečny and kaňa močiarna throughout the year, while the boardwalk trail supports sýkorka hôrna, hýľ obyčajný and chriašteľ vodný may also be heard.
In winter, the broad will be busy with feeding wildfowl including kačica hvizdárka, kačica chrapka, kačica lyžičiarka, kačica ostrochvostá and a few chochlačka vrkočatá. In periods of harsh weather, bučiak veľký, chochlačka morská and other scarcer species may be seen. The alder trees on the trail from the car park may hold good numbers of stehlík čížik and stehlík hnedkavý.
In summer, there is a chance of seeing a flyover kršiak rybár, but more likely, there will be plenty of rybár riečny feeding over the broad. Large gatherings of lastovička obyčajná, belorítka obyčajná and brehuľa hnedá may also be seen. Listen out for the songs of kolibiarik čipčavý, trsteniarik malý, trsteniarik bahenný and even a kukučka obyčajná along the boardwalk trail.
