Description

This peacefull walk along a little used route along the east bank of the River Nene where it enters the Wash is a good place to see ľabtuška lúčna, strnádka trstinová and pŕhľaviar čiernohlavý alongside the path. Waders such as močiarnica mekotavá and kalužiak červenonohý are possible down in the drainage ditches, and raptors can be seen hunting over the adjacent fields and salt marsh e.g. jastrab krahulec, haja červená ,myšiak hôrny, sokol myšiar (pustovka) and kaňa močiarna.

The lighthouses flanking the River Nene are surely an interesting landmark in their own right, however the recently restored East Bank Lighthouse, previously owned by Sir Peter Scott, may add a little extra interest for birders. Sir Peter Scott is an important figure in British ornithology and wildlife conservation and he is the founder of the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust.
