Description

The Karumba to Karumba Point Walking Track is a 3.5 km flat boardwalk that offers an easy and accessible route through the rich wetlands of northern Queensland. A birdwatcher’s paradise with waders, herons and raptors along the Gulf coast. Built thoughtfully by the local community, the trail minimizes environmental impact while allowing visitors to experience the area’s diverse ecosystems up close.

This spot is a prime location for birdwatching, with a variety of waterbirds, shorebirds, and raptors frequently seen along the trail. The mix of mangroves, mudflats, salt marshes, and calm waterways provides food, shelter, and breeding grounds for numerous species. The elevated boardwalks give excellent vantage points for observing wildlife without disturbing it.

The track is suitable for walking, running, or cycling, and is also a popular spot for photographers thanks to its spectacular sunsets over the Gulf of Carpentaria. Whether you are a dedicated birder or simply enjoy wildlife and scenic views, this trail is a must-visit hotspot in the region.
