Description

Fahrlander (Fahrländer) See is a rewarding birding area, especially from spring to late autumn. On the western shore, a dike path runs alongside a wide belt of reeds, offering the opportunity to observe a large number of species – a sight unparalleled in both its quantity and diversity in the Potsdam area. During migration seasons, surprising birdwatching opportunities are regularly available. Ample parking is provided, and a path of about 45 minutes is easily walkable.

On the northern shore (which lacks direct parking), a small hill (near the signposted center of Brandenburg) can be climbed, offering a view of almost the entire lake with a spotting scope. Birds that can be observed regularly and reliably include modra taščica, brkata sinica, trstni strnad, bičja trstnica, trstni cvrčalec, srpična trstnica, rakar, duplar, vodomec, priba, kukavica, ribji orel, črni škarnik, rjavi škarnik and belorepec.

During migration seasons, in addition to a large number of different goose species, there is also a good chance of seeing togotnik, pikasti martinec, mali deževnik, kozica mali galeb, črna čigra and beloperuta čigra.
