Description
Parc Mon Repos is a tranquil park located along the shores of Lake Geneva, featuring manicured gardens, woodland areas, and a scenic lakeside promenade. The park’s mix of habitats provides an ideal environment for a variety of bird species.
In spring and summer, you can spot mlakarica, labod grbec, and čopasti ponirek swimming in the lake, while the surrounding trees and shrubs are home to vrbji kova ek, plavček, duplar, and kos. Migratory swallows can often be seen flying overhead.
During autumn and winter, the shore attracts liska, čopasta črnica, and mali ponirek. Mokož and vodomec are occasionally seen along the lake’s edge.
Particularly during migration periods, you can occasionally see waders on the shore, such as spremenljivi prodnik, mali martinec or even kamenjar.
Gulls rest on the rocky outcrop in the water, in winter including sivi galeb and, in lower numbers, rjavi galeb. On windless days, it is also worth bringing a scope and searching the lake area for rare winter visitors: zlatouhi ponirek, crna raca and rjavovrati ponirek are reported quite regularly, and even ledni slapnik and zimska raca have been spotted from the park.
The peaceful setting, combined with beautiful views of the lake and the Alps, makes Parc Mon Repos an ideal spot for birdwatching and enjoying nature.
