Description
Cardiff Bay is good for birds all year round. Residents include kamenjar, šmarnica, obalna vriskarica and veliki žagar. The first can be seen on the green walkways in groups, whilst the rest can be seen basking on the rocky edges.
breguljka, mestna lastovka and hudournik can all be seen in summer. mestna lastovka nest in ready-made boxes under the eaves of houses by the roundabout barrage entrance. breguljka nest in the walls of the bay.
školjkarica can be seen on the barrage all year round, as well as rdečenogi martinec. zelenec is another resident around the bay. When the tide goes out, many species, such as duplinska kozarka can be seen feeding.
Winter visitors include mali galeb. However, check sightings before going as they tend to move around a lot. Finally, rarities include črnovrati ponirek, zimska raca and ovratniška črnica.

Easy accessible from Cardiff. Plenty of parking areas available. Click on a P in the map for directions. Walking is possible from Penarth to Barrage. Walking is the best way to explore the area.
