Messingham Sand Quarries has a tick list of 180 bird species. Two hides available. Reedbeds provide nest sites for srpična trstnica, bičja trstnica, svilnica and trstni strnad. bobnarica is a regular visitor. Winter wildfowl such as žvižgavka, žličarica, sivka, kreheljc and konopnica. In 2001 ameriška zelena čaplja showed up here.

Just south of Scunthorpe and the M180 motorway. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Exit the reserve with care as its a fast straight road. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 3 km long.
