Description
NWT Ranworth Broad is accessible to all and boasts a great visitor centre (which is open in the spring and summer) with wide views over Ranworth Broad. The broad (lake) itself offers chances to see čopasti ponirek, vodomec and rjavi lunj throughout the year, while the boardwalk trail supports močvirska sinica, kalin and Mokož may also be heard.
In winter, the broad will be busy with feeding wildfowl including žvižgavka, kreheljc, žličarica, dolgorepa raca and a few čopasta črnica. In periods of harsh weather, bobnarica, rjavka and other scarcer species may be seen. The alder trees on the trail from the car park may hold good numbers of čižek and Brezovček.
In summer, there is a chance of seeing a flyover ribji orel, but more likely, there will be plenty of navadna čigra feeding over the broad. Large gatherings of kmečka lastovka, mestna lastovka and breguljka may also be seen. Listen out for the songs of vrbji kova ek, bičja trstnica, srpična trstnica and even a kukavica along the boardwalk trail.
