Description

Chisholm Creek Park is centered around the natural flow of Chisholm Creek. The park preserves native vegetation and provides habitat for local wildlife. Its features represent the major habitat types in the Great Plains. The park consists of 282 acres and has prairies, wetlands, hedgerows, ponds, and woodlands and a network of paved and natural trails that follow the creek.

Although the park is surrounded on all sides by developed areas, over 240 species of birds have been recorded in the park. Breeding birds include Indigo Bunting, Cooper's Hawk, Dickcissel, Yellow-billed Cuckoo and Bell's Vireo.

The more common birds you can spot include Wood Duck, Wild Turkey, Black-crowned Night Heron, Killdeer, Snowy Egret, Mississippi Kite, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Brown Thrasher and American Goldfinch.
