Description
Loch Gruinart is one of the best places in Scotland to see Crvenokljuna galica (northernmost nesting site), Prdavac (a few) and wintering geese (up to 50,000, mostly Grivasta guska, Belolika guska, Divlja guska and Kratkokljuna guska, plus Veliki labud). The RSPB reserve has a hide, a visitor centre and Natural history centre. Birds here include Belorepan, Suri orao, Mali soko, Poljska eja, Barski petlovan, Barski petlić, 16 regular wader species, 3 tern species, 3 diver species, Ritska sova, Planinska juričica and Morska trepteljka.
At the sea end of the loch, Ardnare Point is a good seawatch location for viewing Obična bluna, divers, shearwaters, skuas, auks and sea ducks such as Ledenjarka, Crni turpan and Srednji ronac. Best place also for Crvenokljuna galica. Ardnare loch is favoured by wintering dabbling ducks - Krdža, Zviždara, Čegrtuša and Plovka kašikara.
