Description
Messingham Sand Quarries has a tick list of 180 bird species. Two hides available. Reedbeds provide nest sites for Trstenjak crvrkutić, Trstenjak rogožar, Svilorepi cvrčić and Barska strnadica. Vodeni bik is a regular visitor. Winter wildfowl such as Zviždara, Plovka kašikara, Riđoglava patka, Krdža and Čegrtuša. In 2001 Američka zelena čaplja showed up here.

Access
Just south of Scunthorpe and the M180 motorway. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Exit the reserve with care as its a fast straight road. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 3 km long.
