Description
There is layby parking on the Newport iron bridge which is a good viewpoint. Look for waders, gulls and terns in autumn/winter - Zlatni vivak, Mala čigra, Srebrni vivak, Mala šljuka, Barska šljuka, Velika carska šljuka, Sprudnik ubojica, Vivak, Crnotrba sprutka, Bela sprutka. Obična bluna, shearwaters and Morski papagaj may be seen from the beach, or the cliffs further north, which may also have Vetruška, Crvenokljuna galica and Crnoglava travarka. Trstenjak rogožar, Trstenjak crvrkutić, Barska strnadica, breed in the reeds where Mala bela čaplja, Barski petlovan and Vodomar may also feed.

Access
The estuary and adjoining town of Newport, Pembs (not the same as the city of Newport, Gwent in east Wales) are midway between Fishguard and Cardigan, 10 miles from each, on the A487 coast road. Buses every 2 hours. Nearest trains at Fishguard. The south shore walk is 3 km there and back, the north shore and clifftop walk is 4 km.
